About Allen

Allen Jones is an abstract painter known for his vibrant color harmonies and cosmic themes. Born in Alton, Illinois, he was encouraged by his grandmother, whose part-Indian heritage and passion for painting shaped his early artistic interests. Jones studied art at Alton Sr. High, Lewis and Clark University, the St. Louis School of Design, and the School of Associated Arts in St. Paul.

In 1976, he moved to Minneapolis, gaining local recognition with works featured on the Minnesota Tour Guide cover and the City of St. Paul’s Christmas card. His intuitive process focuses on color, line, and light, using a limited palette to create dynamic, mysterious compositions often made with knife, brush, and drip techniques.

Influenced by Van Gogh, Dalí, Picasso, and Escher, Jones has exhibited widely and appeared in Sunshine Artist magazine. His work is included in notable collections such as the Minnesota Arts Board vice president’s private collection and the University of California’s ‘I Have The Right’ exhibit. Now living in Amery, Wisconsin, he continues to explore innovative materials and incorporates his love of nature into his art.
